Painting a Presence: PR & Design for The Student Artists League
As Vice President of Public Relations for Quinnipiac’s Student Artists League (SAL), I was responsible for managing the club’s social media presence, creating promotional materials, and building connections with other campus art organizations. SAL’s mission is to advocate for and unify the visual and performing arts community on campus, and as the club’s PR lead, I worked to ensure that our presence on campus reflected both our passion for creativity and our support for student artists.
From March 6th, 2023, to May 2nd, 2023, all posts on the SAL Instagram account were created and posted by me. Beyond managing the feed, I regularly reached out to other art clubs and organizations at Quinnipiac to help cross-promote their events on SAL’s Instagram Story. This daily outreach not only helped strengthen SAL’s relationship with other groups but also helped establish the club as a reliable source for arts-related updates across campus.
Logo Redesign
Originally, the Student Artists League logo was a simple black-and-white design, which didn’t fully reflect the creative and colorful spirit of the organization. After a conversation with the club’s president, I created two gradient-based versions of the logo using our club’s branded color palette. The final chosen design is still in use today, bringing a much-needed visual identity upgrade to the organization.
Event Coverage: “Spring Into the Arts”
One of the largest events of the semester, Spring Into the Arts, was a collaborative effort organized mainly by the club’s president and me. I captured all recordings and images used in the event’s Instagram highlights, which showcased the wide variety of visual and performing arts talent from across the university. This event was a key milestone for the club, drawing significant engagement both on social media and on campus, and helped reinforce SAL’s mission of creating an inclusive and vibrant arts community.
Design Work & Documentation
Throughout the semester, I designed countless graphics, flyers, and social media visuals for the club. I also documented and promoted every art-related event we were involved with, whether it was sharing a performance or spotlighting visual art exhibitions. My work helped the Student Artists League maintain a cohesive and professional image while actively supporting the visibility of arts programs across Quinnipiac.
Recognition & Awards
During my term as Vice President of Public Relations, the Student Artists League was awarded the 2023 Judith Frank Student Organization of the Year Award. This award recognized SAL’s strong leadership, commitment to innovative programming, and the club’s success in promoting arts engagement on campus. As the PR lead, I took pride in knowing my outreach efforts, event coverage, and promotional work contributed to this recognition.
Conclusion
My role as Vice President of Public Relations for the Student Artists League allowed me to blend design, outreach, and event documentation in a way that supported both the club’s growth and the larger campus arts community. Through collaboration, creative problem-solving, and visual storytelling, I helped amplify the voices of student artists and leave a lasting mark on the club’s visual identity.
